The Foundry Story

The Foundry has become what it is today through faith, prayer and vision. The vision began in 1978 when the Northwest area of Houston was beginning to see rapid growth.

On May 28, 1978, twenty eight people interested in establishing the church gathered at Post Elementary School for services. In 1984 Rev. Godfrey Hubert was appointed to The Foundry. Under his leadership the church has become a Christian beacon in Northwest Houston. In April of 2008, Foundry launched it's Fry Road campus to continue growing with our community.

What's in a name?
While in London during the mid-1700's, John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, was urged to preach in an abandoned building, a foundry previously used by the King's army to recast guns. John Wesley purchased the foundry and spent money for the needed repairs. Here he preached, held prayer meetings, taught classes and sold publications. This foundry, the cradle of Methodism, was the first church opened for worship.

The Foundry is a recognized name in our community, by God's grace, and is actively committed to its mission statement: "We are God's Foundry to transform all people into faithful servants of Christ."
